About Global Trademark Clearing house

What is TMCH

The Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) is ICANN's new initiative to protect trademarks within the New gTLD program. Designed to safeguard trademark rights before disputes arise, TMCH offers rights holders an effective way to monitor the real-time protection status of their trademarks in cyberspace.

As part of the New gTLD (new generic Top Level Domain) program, ICANN developed the Rights Protection Mechanism (RPM) to address concerns from the global intellectual property community and respond to the demand for stronger protection of trademark holders' rights. The Global Trademark Information Clearinghouse (TMCH) is the first of its kind, serving as a trademark database established to support the RPM. According to ICANN regulations, all new gTLDs must have a Sunrise period before they are open to the public for formal registration services. During this period, only trademark holders registered with the TMCH are eligible to apply for domain registration.

Trademark holders who register their trademark information with the TMCH can enjoy the following benefits:

●Priority registration rights for domain names related to their registered trademarks during the Sunrise period, which lasts at least 30 days before the public registration opens.

●Real-time alert notifications within 90 days after the Sunrise period, in case their well-known trademarks are subject to cybersquatting in new gTLDs.

During the 90-day period following the end of the Sunrise Period (Trademark Claims Period), businesses can receive domain registration alerts, allowing them to promptly monitor the registration status of domain names that match their trademarks.

Priority Registration for New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs)

在每个顶级域开放公众注册前提供至少30日的优先注册期（日升期），入库的商标权人享有优先注册其持有商标对应域名的权利，避免商标域名被抢注。
Before public registration opens for each top-level domain, a priority registration period (Sunrise Period) of at least 30 days is provided. Trademark holders are granted the right to register domain names corresponding to their trademarks first, thereby preventing cybersquatting.

TMCH services only protect domain names that exactly match the registered trademark.
