CNNIC Holds 2024 Mid-Year Work Summary Meeting

On July 16, the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) held its 2024 mid-year work summary meeting. The meeting was guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and deeply studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discussions on new-type industrialization. It firmly implemented the decisions and deployments of the MIIT's Party Leadership Group, carefully summarized the achievements of the first half of the year, and deployed tasks for the second half. The meeting was chaired by Liu Yulin, Director General and Party Secretary of the Center, who also delivered a summary speech. Over 50 people, including members of the leadership team and heads of various departments attended the meeting.

The meeting pointed out that in the first half of the year, the Center focused on the goal of building a world-class Internet information center with a domestic base, a global orientation, and an international perspective. In line with the requirements of the MIIT's leadership, it further refined its development strategy and work plan, formulating a two-step development strategy. It also launched six major initiatives under the program of Strengthening the Foundation (2024-2025), coordinating medium- and long-term development plans, comprehensive development tasks, and annual key work. Through concerted efforts and hard work, significant progress was made in various areas.

The meeting emphasized the need to have a deep understanding of the situation, tasks, and challenges facing the Center's development. It stressed the importance of enhancing awareness of potential risks, being prepared for future challenges, and seizing the historical opportunities presented by the development of new quality productive forces and the advancement of new-type industrialization. The Center must adhere to the principle of seeking benefits through reform and pursuing development through innovation, unite as one, and strive to open up a new chapter in the Center's development.

The meeting required that in the second half of the year, the Center should continue to be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and follow the decisions and deployments of the MIIT’s Party Leadership Group. It should coordinate the implementation of all tasks, focusing on high-quality Party building, completing inspection and audit rectification tasks to high standards, scientifically planning the development strategy for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, enhancing the management level of national domain names, actively exploring innovative business, increasing the intensity of scientific research and innovation, strengthening cybersecurity capabilities, deepening think tank research and international cooperation, ensuring the smooth relocation to the new research building, and improving the scientific level of internal management. The Center should ensure the high-quality completion of the annual targets and tasks, making greater contributions to accelerating new-type industrialization and building China’s strengths in manufacturing and cyberspace.
