Background:

This document was prepared and published for the simultaneous delegation request of .中国 (xn--fiqs8S) and .中國 (xn--fiqz9S) submitted by CNNIC, as required by Board Resolution RESOLVED, (2010.04.22.10). The simultaneous delegation of .中国 (xn--fiqs8S) and .中國 (xn--fiqz9S) has wide community support, will resolve significant problem and meet the well understood needs of users of Chinese.

Though seen as orthographical variation, Traditional and Simplified Chinese are identical to Chinese language users and works the same way as upper case and lower case letters in English. As reflected from this document, parallel uses of "Simplified" and "Traditional" Chinese, namely .中国 (xn--fiqs8S) and .中國 (xn--fiqz9S) are made possible through the in-depth experience CNNIC gained over years with the registration of strings containing variants as domain names at second and lower levels following IETF technical standards. This document is subject to change when technology evolves to meet the requirement of maintaining security and stability of the DNS. CNNIC will continue make improvements to this document as needed and share its experience learned with the community on the operation and management of the variants IDN ccTLDs.
